INTERIOR DESIGNER

InForm Design's office located near Ala Moana Center is seeking a Interior Designer to join our highly innovative and talented team. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks associated with the production of preparing preliminary and final design presentation drawings, construction drawings , FF+E specifications, procurement and installation. Candidate should possess the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and have excellent teamwork and communication skills.

EDUCATION

‍Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B. A.) or related field from four-year college or university, preferred. Two to six years of experience in all phases of project delivery, from schematic design through construction documents.

CERTIFICATIONS
 

  • LEED/NCIDQ certification is a plus​

​

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
 

  • Project management for small to medium size projects

  • Knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers commonly used in contract interior design work

  • Knowledge of interior design principles and practices

  • Working knowledge of AutoCad, Autodesk, Photoshop and InDesign. Revit is a plus

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Desire to learn, accept direction, and be mentored

  • Knowledge in writing reports, business correspondence and business development proposals

  • Ability to effectively manage team members to maintain positive interaction, while ensuring the highest quality, and meeting client expectations

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Renders design in the form of drawings or illustrations using  computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD, Revit), Sketch-up, Photoshop, InDesign or by hand

  • Works collaboratively with a multi-discipline design team including contractors, architects and engineers

  • Prepares presentation and construction documents to communicate interior design ideas

  • Meets directly with clients to review project scope and present design ideas

  • Assists or acts independently to produce programming documents

  • Reviews construction cost estimates

  • Assists in selecting finish materials, furniture and equipment (FF&E Procurement)

  • Provides FF&E specifications

  • Responsible for schematic design work

  • Participates in the design control of project int he design development, construction document and supervision phases

  • Strong office space planning and furniture systems

  • Provides direction to lower-level designers

  • Responsible for project budget management and cost control

  • Attends and schedules in-house manufacturer's representative meetings to enhance product knowledge

  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements of the interior design profession

SUCCESSFUL INTERIOR DESIGNERS HAVE
 

  • Experience in our core markets (hospitality, restaurant, retail, education, healthcare, government)

  • Drive to participate in marketing opportunities and facilitate multi-discipline collaboration with the firm

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and manage team members

  • Ability to mentor less experienced staff and interns

  • Proven history of excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication and presentation skills

  • Experience in building, maintaining and expanding client relationships
